We're happy you asked When you first use your candle please make sure that the vessel is placed on a heat-proof surface and is well away from drapes or other flammable material For each successive use it's best to trim the wick to 1 4 inch above the wax This ensures that the flame does not smoke while lighting Always try to leave the candle lit until the wax has melted to the sides of the vessel so that the candle burns down evenly However do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time as the wax will become scorching hot and can pose a burn hazard Never touch or move the vessel while the candle is lit
